The Ghana Muslim Students Association at the University of Ghana was established in the early 1980s by a group of dedicated Muslim students who recognized the need for a formal organization to support the religious, academic, and social needs of Muslims on campus.
Starting with just a handful of members, the association has grown significantly over the decades to become one of the most active and respected religious organizations at the University of Ghana. Throughout its history, GMSA UG has played a crucial role in advocating for the rights and needs of Muslim students, including the establishment of prayer spaces on campus.
The association has evolved to address the changing needs of Muslim students while staying true to its founding principles. Today, GMSA UG continues to serve as a home away from home for Muslim students, providing spiritual guidance, academic support, and a sense of community.
Over the years, the association has organized numerous events, including lectures by renowned Islamic scholars, community service initiatives, interfaith dialogues, and social gatherings that have enriched the university experience for countless Muslim students.
